Uche Sparks Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
