Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against the Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden World Series after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another player on planet Earth that I want up in that moment other than George Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he added.
Toronto won the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
