The Two Fatalities Revealed in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, saying in part: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a raid at a lodging about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our public”.

The assailant began shooting inside a classroom in the building on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the media outlet.

Law enforcement that entered the hotel found two handguns and magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was allowed to go home, stated Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Cook was remembered at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was a shining example in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the nation’s seventh-oldest university with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in this year, according to records. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
