Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Reaction

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with performances so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
