Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12M Heist on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects using military-grade weapons employed explosives to breach the security of a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, causing light wounds to five employees during what appears to be the latest high-profile daytime heist to hit the nation.

The daring raid was carried out on Thursday afternoon, with officers swiftly apprehending the suspected perpetrators and securing the stolen items estimated to be worth €12M (10.5 million pounds), as stated by authorities.

Five staff members of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt due to the explosion, and three individuals were taken to a medical facility for assessment, according to regional authorities. A total of twenty-eight staff were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.

Those arrested, thought to be career criminals, were arrested soon afterwards in the neighboring community of the town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female participant involved in the heist was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official stated online, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were likewise seized.

The raid happened as French police on the same day detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in relation to this month's brazen raid on the Louvre museum.
