Over 36,000 individuals have fled Sudan's Kordofan region eastern sector of Darfur since Saturday, as stated by the UN's migration agency.

The important central zone separating the country's Darfur areas and the Khartoum-Riverine area has in recent weeks become the newest conflict zone in the extended civil war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary group.

Massive Displacement Figures

An approximated 36,825 people evacuated from five localities in North Kordofan state between 26 October and 31 October, according to the International Organization for Migration.

The civilians, most on foot, moved toward Tawila, a town to the west of El Fasher that is currently housing more than 652,000 refugees.

Increased Troop Concentration

Local inhabitants of North Kordofan on Monday reported a significant increase in both RSF and army deployment across urban and rural areas throughout the state.

Both armed factions are vying for control of El Obeid, the North Kordofan provincial capital and a key logistics and command base that connects Darfur to Khartoum.

"Today, all our forces have gathered at the Bara front here," commented an RSF member in a recently circulated video statement.

Local Inhabitants Report Protection Issues

A area citizen of Um Smeima, located west of El Obeid, described that the quantity of RSF vehicles had increased significantly since the group's capture of El Fasher.

"We ceased visiting our farms, fearing clashes," the local commented.

Another resident, who asked to remain unnamed for protection purposes, also confirmed that "there has been a big increase in army vehicles and weapons west and south of El Obeid" over the past two weeks.

Global Concerns and Appeals

A senior UN official expressed concerns last week about "extensive crimes" and "ethnic-based retaliations" by RSF in Bara.

The representative alerted to patterns similar to those in Darfur, where RSF fighters have been accused of mass killings, sexual violence and abductions against non-Arab ethnic groups.

The church leader on Sunday urged an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of relief routes in Sudan, saying that attacks on civilians and impediments to humanitarian aid "are creating unacceptable suffering."

Sudan's ambassador to Egypt on Sunday charged RSF of perpetrating war crimes in El Fasher and stated that the Sudanese government would not discuss with the militia organization.

The ambassador further called on the global community to classify the group as a terrorist organisation.
