England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was against England in December 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the first Test due to his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, assumed a role as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for New Zealand.
Speaking as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Stuart Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [the English] side that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
